Fixing font Khmer Unicode typing and display correctly in Adobe Photoshop by adjusting Adobe Photoshop preferences setting.
The previous version of Windows like Windows XP and its application does not support font Khmer Unicode by default. And also the elder versions of Windows do not support font Khmer Unicode by default too. Before the 2000s most of Windows users in Cambodia used the font Limon in Windows and its applications. The reason that most of Cambodian used font Limon because it supports all Windows and its program. Nowadays, the font Khmer Limons are not favored using anymore because its typing method is complexity. Even though most of Adobe program like Adobe Photoshop still doesn’t support Font Khmer Unicode. And also it will not display Font Khmer correctly in the paragraph.
Until now, most of the Cambodian designers still use font Limons for their design projects. And also there are only font Limons that support Adobe program correctly. Many of Adobe Photoshop users in Cambodian are looking for the better solutions to make their Adobe programs can work with Fonts Khmer–Unicode. Well, I have the good news in this post that it could help you to make Adobe Photoshop working correctly with font Khmer-Unicode.
In this post, I will show you the easy ways to make Adobe Photoshop working correctly with font Khmer. Two ways can make Adobe program support font Khmer by adjusting the Adobe Photoshop preference setting and install font Khmer Unicode for Photoshop. You can change the Adobe Photoshop’s setting by following step by step that I post below.
Changing Adobe Photoshop preference setting
Now let’s start to adjust the Adobe Photoshop setting to make it support fonts Khmer Unicode. After you have completed successfully change the setting following the step by step below then font Khmer will be working correctly in Adobe.
The example below I used Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. And also it may be a little bit different for another previous version of adobe photoshop. Please following the step by step below:
- Open your Adobe Photoshop program, Under the Menu bar, please click on Edit tab and then select Preferences
- Under Preferences tab hover you will see Type… tab, Please select Type… tab. If you are using early version Adobe Photoshop like Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 you will see the options:
- East Asian
- Middle Eastern and South Asian, Please change the setting from Ease East Asian to Middle Eastern and South Asian and then click OK. And also if you are running Adobe Photoshop CC 2017, please click on Type… Tab. Please change the setting from Ease East Asian to Middle Eastern and South Asian and then click OK.
- Now please close your Adobe Photoshop program and then open it again. After you have completed changing the setting as I described above, the setting will take effect after you restart your Adobe Photoshop program.
Making Adobe Photoshop support font Khmer by installing font Khmer for Photoshop
You may also fix font Khmer problem in Photoshop program by install Font Khmer Unicode for Adobe. Besides you can change the setting in Adobe Photoshop, you can download some of fonts Khmer Unicode that can work with Photoshop and install them on your computer. You need to remember the fonts Khmer Unicode name that you have installed on your pc and select specific font name in your files.
To make your Adobe Photoshop support and works with Font Khmer Unicode correctly, you will have two options such as changing the Adobe Photoshop Preferences setting and install font Khmer for Adobe Photoshop. If you are using the changing the Adobe Photoshop Preferences setting method, you will be able to use all font Khmer Unicode in Adobe Photoshop. And also if you would prefer install font Khmer Unicode that supports Adobe program then you will be able to use only that particular font Khmer that you installed on your computer.
